OpenCart offers a vast choice of Payment gateways meaning that you are not tied in to just one or two giving you no flexibility in choosing what is right for you. OpenCart payment gateways come as additional modules but there are lots already built in to the OpenCart system ready to be activated and set-up with your payment gateways credentials. With any Opencart ecommerce website we would always advise a choice of two gateways because some customers may not be happy or have access to one of them and prefer the other; or in the event that one of the payment providers is down, you have a redundant option. We have setup a wide range of payment gateways with Opencart; the most popular choice pair in our experience is Paypal and Stripe. This is because Paypal is extremely well known and trusted by consumers and is therefore very popular; and Stripe is also well known but cheaper for the retailer to process transactions with. This makes them a killer combination for many stores. Complaints from a developer perspective would be Paypal sandbox dev environment can often be buggy, and Paypal seller reports leave a lot to be desired. Stripe on the other hand, also has average reports but a better developer AI and a better development environment. As far as collecting your heard earned cash; as long as your account is aged enough and in good standing, you can withdraw all of your Paypal balance at the end of each day should you so wish. Conversely, Stripe witholds funds and you can often find yourself with split payments and being a month behind in money you have taken on your store. This is allegedly to cover themselves from chargebacks (it’s not to profit from the huge amount of cash they hold on to )… so please do your research on which provider(s) you want to use for your payments. |
